The NSPS Certified Survey Technician (CST) program is a comprehensive national certification program for survey technicians in both the field and the office intended to gauge technical capabilities and general knowledge of workplace safety and procedures.
Some of the goals of the program are:
During this second in a series of webinars, the speaker will provide a copy of a CST Level I Sample Test for Office and Field Technicians. He will review typical problems and work through solutions. Examples of the work elements for a Level 1 CST Exam are:
Speaker: Kevin Ponder, Director of Field Operations, Construction Department, Feldman Geospatial
As Feldman Geospatial’s Director of Field Operations, Kevin Ponder wears many hats, and his role encompasses training, operations, and corporate strategy. Kevin oversees the firm’s cross-department training of survey and reality capture field crews and ensures quality control and best practices are being followed on job sites. Operationally, Kevin is responsible for managing equipment calibrations and purchasing and overseeing the firm’s fleet of vehicles.
Kevin joined Feldman Geospatial in 2004, and he quickly rose to the position of Crew Chief, a role that he held for close to 15 years. During that time, Kevin led a field survey team and provided control benchmarks, performed as-builts, directed instrument operators, and worked with Superintendents. Kevin’s drive and discipline can, in part, be credited to his eight years of duty in the Army Reserves, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and gained valuable field experience and technology services training.
Kevin is a CST Level 3 with a focus on construction.
